INEOS TEAM UK, the British Challenger for the 36thAmerica’s Cup, is proud to announce a continued collaboration with Coderus, a specialist in technical software development.Coderus, based at the high-tech Innovation Martlesham cluster at Adastral Parkin Suffolk, will use their expertise to offer unique high-performance solutions that deliver data to the sailing and performance teams. Software and systems experts will also be embedded within the team at the HQ in Portsmouth.

The America’s Cup is a 50% design and 50% sporting challenge, constantly pushing the boundaries of design and technology. The next edition takes place in Auckland in 2021 in 75-foot foiling monohulls and together the team and Coderus will build technology to enable fast tactical and strategic decision making out on the water. There have been 22 previous British Challengers since the first race back in 1851 but Britain has never won the America’s Cup.

Coderus worked collaboratively with engineers from the British Challenger during the team’s campaign for the 35thAmerica’s Cup, developing a ‘tactical app’ used onboard by Tactician, Giles Scott, a Rio 2016 Olympic Champion. The device provided fast and accurate tactical information to the crew whilst working at their maximum heart rate.

“It’s terrific to have Coderus back with us and working on the next iteration of our onboard tactical and sailing data solutions. They did a great job last time, and we know that their software expertise and support will give us a performance advantage.”Nick Holroyd, Technical Director INEOS TEAM UK.

Mark Thomas, CEO of Coderus said: “We are incredibly honoured to be part of INEOS TEAM UK for a second time in order to deliver high-performance results for such a prestigious race as the America’s Cup. Our last collaboration with the British America’s Cup team provided tech-based solutions to help the sailing crew reach their goal. As official partners we are excited to be a small part of their team at this flagship project for Coderus.”

The team are currently working towards launching their first AC75 race boat this summer in the UK.
