UEA Change Makers 2022 Launch

UEA Change Makers is a brand new programme to help students turn their ideas, passions and talents into viable businesses that can help save the world. You could win funding and a 4-week accelerator package of training and the support of a massive community of experts to make your idea happen. To be picked as one of ten, UEA Change Makers 2022, you will have to submit a 60-second pitch of a business idea that could help people, planet or community…and one lucky person will win an additional £5000 to launch their venture.

At the launch, you will hear exactly how the competition will work, what is in it for you and the support available. You will also get to hear from some of our inspirational graduate start-ups about the ventures they have set up to deliver change and their journey into making it happen.

• Helena Lopez Parades (HSC13), founder of Helena Eyimi, saving lives across the globe through providing world-class midwifery training.
• James Beavis (NBS15), co-founder of Squiish, cutting-edge plastic-free packaging poised to banish single-use shampoo bottles to the history book.

In this hands-on idea generation session, you will work in small teams to explore current world issues. You will begin to generate and innovate possible solutions that are both financially viable and create real social or environmental change. We will show you the simple tools used by social entrepreneurs around the world to create radical solutions to help both people and the planet today.

Competition timeline:

• 11am-1pm, Friday 18th March: Launch event and idea generation session.
• 10:30am-12pm, Wednesday 23rd March, UEA Change Makers: Idea Generation workshop.
• 3-5pm, Wednesday 23rd March: How to Startup: Video Marketing workshop. Book now
• 9am, Monday 25th April: Submission deadline – email videos to info.enterprise@uea.ac.uk
• 9am, Thursday 26th April until midnight Monday 2nd May: public voting via @uniofeastanglia on Instagram
• 3rd May, 10 UEA Change Makers 2022 announced
• May-June: Accelerator programme
