What if technology designed for connection truly worked for everyone?

Spectrom Connect C.I.C. is a brand-new social enterprise based in Great Yarmouth, created with a bold ambition: to tackle social isolation within the blind and visually impaired community by building the world’s first born-accessible, audio-first ecosystem for dating, friendship and genuine human connection.

As we form our founding Board of Directors, we are looking for a Non-Executive Director (Technology & Safety) to help shape Spectrom from the ground up.

This is not a traditional board role, and it is not about writing code. Instead, it is an opportunity to act as a strategic guardian for a platform designed to protect and empower one of the most underserved communities in digital life.

Why Spectrom Connect Exists

For blind and visually impaired people, many mainstream social and dating apps are difficult to use, unsafe, or actively exclusionary. Accessibility is often treated as an afterthought, and visual bias can be baked into the very mechanics of online connection.

Spectrom Connect is different by design.

We are creating an audio-first environment where accessibility, dignity and safety are non-negotiable. Our goal is to reduce isolation, foster meaningful relationships, and establish a new standard for ethical and inclusive technology.

The Role: Technology & Safety Guardian

As a founding Non-Executive Director, you will play a vital role in ensuring that Spectrom’s technology choices align with our values and protect our users.

You will provide strategic oversight, not operational delivery. We need a strategic advisor to oversee our technical roadmap, data ethics, and safety protocols to ensure we protect our vulnerable user base.

What You’ll Contribute:

Strategic Oversight

Advise the Board on the technical feasibility and security of the Spectrom platform.

Safety, Ethics and Data Protection

Acting as a guardian of user safety, ensuring our verification processes and data handling protect our community from scams and abuse.

Vendor Selection

Assist the non-technical CEO in vetting and selecting external development agencies or partners.

Governance

Attend monthly/quarterly board meetings to help steer the strategic direction of the CIC.

Who This Role Is For

  • Experience: A background in Technology Leadership, Cyber Security, Product Management, or Data Protection.
  • Values: A commitment to “Tech for Good” and an understanding of the barriers faced by disabled communities.
  • Location: Must be a UK Resident.

Practical Details

  • Role: Non-Executive Director (Technology & Safety)
  • Organisation: Spectrom Connect C.I.C.
  • Location: Remote (Board meetings held virtually or in Norfolk)
  • Role Type: Voluntary (Unpaid) | Founding Board Member
  • Time commitment: Around 4 hours per month

Why Get Involved?

This is a rare opportunity to influence a platform at its very beginning. To embed safety, accessibility and ethical technology into its foundations.

If you believe technology should protect the vulnerable, not expose them, and if you want your experience to make a meaningful social impact, we would love to hear from you.

Together, we can help build a safer, fairer way for people to connect.
